Shiv Sena MP Priyanka Chaturvedi has called for immediate action from the government regarding the increasing incidents of AI apps, particularly on Elon Musk’s social media platform X, sexualizing women. In a letter to IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, she emphasized the need for implementing “guardrails” on AI chatbots like Grok to ensure the safety of women on social media platforms. Chaturvedi also highlighted the importance of educating men from a young age to prevent such inappropriate behavior.

Chaturvedi expressed her concerns on social media, stating that urgent attention is required to address the misuse of AI apps that are being used to sexualize and exploit women through unauthorized use of their images. She stressed the necessity for establishing guidelines, such as those provided by Grok, to protect women’s dignity and called on major tech companies to take responsibility. Additionally, she emphasized the significance of educating men to prevent them from engaging in such misconduct.

The Shiv Sena MP pointed out a disturbing trend on social media platforms, particularly on X, where individuals with fake accounts are manipulating the AI Grok feature to degrade women by altering their photos and promoting sexual content. Chaturvedi condemned this behavior, emphasizing that it extends beyond sharing images through fake accounts to targeting women who share their own photos. She criticized Grok for facilitating such actions by complying with inappropriate requests.

Chaturvedi labeled the misuse of AI functions as a violation of women’s privacy and a criminal offense. She highlighted that similar incidents are occurring unchecked on other platforms as well. As an active member of the Standing Committee on IT & Communication, she urged the IT Minister to address this issue with X to ensure the implementation of safeguards in their AI applications to create a secure environment for women. Chaturvedi emphasized the importance of upholding women’s dignity and preventing demeaning acts, stating that while AI has its benefits, it should not be used to perpetrate such offenses against women.
