A disturbing incident of alleged mob justice has emerged from Perumbavoor, Kerala, where three young men were violently attacked, forced to kneel, and had their heads shaved after being accused of involvement in the drug trade. The event occurred near Bhai Colony in Perumbavoor around 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, sparking widespread condemnation of vigilante actions taking the law into their own hands.
The victims, hailing from Manjappetty in Vazhakulam, were reportedly physically assaulted and publicly humiliated without any intervention from law enforcement. Local residents intercepted the youths, claiming they were in the area for ganja-related activities, and instead of involving the police, they detained and took them to a nearby room where they were made to kneel and beaten.
In what appears to be a deliberate act of humiliation, the attackers called a barber to shave the heads of the three young men. Following the ordeal, the victims reported the assault to the Perumbavoor Police, leading to the registration of a First Information Report (FIR) against six identifiable individuals. Authorities are now working to identify and apprehend all those responsible for the incident.
Efforts are underway to investigate the sequence of events and determine the roles of each accused party. Officials are also looking into the reasons behind the victims’ presence in the area and the validity of the allegations against them. Regardless, police sources emphasize that even if the youths were linked to drug activities, it does not justify vigilante violence or public shaming. Authorities stress that criminal allegations should be reported to the police for proper legal action, not handled through mob justice.
