Six members of an interstate criminal gang were apprehended by a joint team of Pune Rural Police’s Local Crime Branch and Otur Police Station. The operation resulted in the seizure of weapons, ammunition, a stolen vehicle, and other items valued at Rs 14.87 lakh.
Interrogation of the accused uncovered their involvement in 20 serious criminal cases spanning Maharashtra and Telangana. These individuals are collectively linked to over 50 criminal cases across various states. The police identified a stolen jeep in Kolwadi village, leading to a confrontation between a relative of the owner and the suspects.
A scuffle ensued when the relative raised an alarm, attracting local villagers who assisted in apprehending two of the accused. The remaining four managed to escape initially but were later tracked down and arrested after an extensive search operation involving the police and local residents. The arrested individuals have been named as Sonusingh Kapursingh Tak, Jilusingh Shersingh Dudhani, Karansingh Gagansingh Tak, Pankajsingh Kalusingh Shikalgar alias Dudhani, Papisingh alias Krishnasingh Sahebsingh Tak, and Mangalsingh Mayasingh Dudhani.
The accused admitted to their involvement in a range of criminal activities, including cases of dacoity, attempted dacoity, robbery, housebreaking, and vehicle theft. Police recovered property and equipment worth Rs 14,87,820 during the operation, including weapons and the stolen jeep. These individuals already face more than 50 criminal cases in Maharashtra, Telangana, and other states, and will be presented before the court for further legal proceedings.
