Slovakia’s Minister of Foreign and European Affairs, Juraj Blanar, met with India’s External Affairs Minister, S. Jaishankar in New York. The meeting was described as “very productive” by Slovakia’s Ambassador to India, Robert Maxian. Discussions included Slovakia’s support for India’s non-permanent seat bid on the United Nations Security Council.
During the meeting, the ministers talked about Slovakia’s V4 Presidency, the V4+India format, effective multilateralism, UN Security Council reform, and cooperation on global security challenges. Slovakia officially expressed its support for India’s UNSC candidature, reciprocating India’s earlier endorsement of Slovakia’s bid. This mutual support signifies a strong partnership and the high quality of bilateral relations between the two countries.
India’s External Affairs Minister, Dr. S. Jaishankar, initiated India’s campaign for a non-permanent seat on the UNSC for the 2028–29 term. The aim is to promote a more inclusive, effective, and forward-looking global order. Additionally, India’s Ambassador to Slovakia, Apoorva Srivastava, met with Juraj Blanar to reinforce India’s commitment to enhancing bilateral ties.
Expressing gratitude for Blanar’s cooperation and support during her tenure, Ambassador Srivastava highlighted India’s dedication to strengthening the friendly relationship between the two nations. The Indian Embassy in Slovakia emphasized confidence in the continued growth and deepening of bilateral relations across various sectors in the future.
