Sophie Devine’s unbeaten 42-ball half-century propelled Gujarat Giants to a total of 153/8 against UP Warriorz in the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2026 clash at the BCA Stadium in Vadodara. Devine, batting at number four, smashed two fours and three sixes to help Gujarat Giants surpass the 150-run mark. Earlier, UP Warriorz bowlers, including Sophie Ecclestone and Kranti Gaud, had put up a strong performance.
The innings for Gujarat Giants started with Beth Mooney and Danni Wyatt-Hodge opening the batting. Mooney and Wyatt-Hodge managed to hit four boundaries before Kranti Gaud dismissed Wyatt-Hodge with a delivery that disturbed the stumps. Anushka Sharma then contributed with some boundaries but fell to Kranti after scoring 14 runs. Ashleigh Gardner struggled against the bowling attack of Kranti and Sophie.
Mooney continued to score boundaries to approach her half-century, but was removed by Sophie for 38 runs. The middle order faced setbacks with Bharti Fulmali getting run out due to confusion with Sophie, Kanika Ahuja caught at mid-off, and Kashvee Gautam bowled by Ecclestone. Sophie Devine’s crucial sixes off Shikha Pandey in the final over helped her reach a fifty off 42 balls, ensuring Gujarat Giants crossed the 150-run mark.
