South Africa showcased authority with the bat, scoring a formidable 213/4 against Canada in Group D of the T20 World Cup 2026 at the Narendra Modi Stadium. Aiden Markram’s stylish 59 off 32 balls and David Miller’s unbeaten 39 off 23 highlighted their strong performance.
The Proteas controlled the game from the start, with Markram and Quinton de Kock impressively scoring 65 runs in the Powerplay without losing a wicket. Their strategic play, finding gaps and maintaining the score, kept Canada’s bowlers on the back foot.
In the middle overs, South Africa’s dominance continued as Markram accelerated to a T20 fifty off 28 balls, supported by Ryan Rickelton. Despite a brief setback with three wickets falling, Miller’s calm partnership with Tristan Stubbs secured a challenging total of 213/4 in 20 overs.
Canada now faces a daunting target of 214, with South Africa’s strong bowling lineup and the pressure firmly on the Canadian team.
