The southwest monsoon has intensified in Bihar, leading the Meteorological Centre in Patna to issue a yellow alert for 24 districts. Expect heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, lightning, and strong winds with speeds of 40-50 km/h in various parts of the state. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasts adverse weather conditions in multiple districts including Siwan, Saran, Muzaffarpur, and others.
Residents in the mentioned districts are advised to stay vigilant due to the potential for heavy rainfall, lightning strikes, and gusty winds. Southern and south-western Bihar, however, fall under a green alert, indicating no significant weather threats currently. These areas, including Patna, Gaya, and Nalanda, are expected to continue normal activities without major disruptions.
Patna, the state capital, witnessed drizzle in the morning followed by sunny weather later in the day. The maximum temperature in Patna is forecasted to range between 33 and 35 degrees Celsius in the upcoming days. Expect intermittent light rainfall and varying cloud cover, offering relief from the recent oppressive heat and humidity.
The Meteorological Department advises residents in yellow alert districts to avoid seeking shelter under trees during thunderstorms. It is recommended to stay indoors during lightning activity and to be cautious when traveling in heavy rain and strong winds.
