On the eve of the Delhi Assembly’s Winter Session, Speaker Vijender Gupta emphasized the importance of orderly deliberations and responsible conduct. Gupta, along with senior officials, inspected the arrangements at the Delhi Legislative Assembly Secretariat and Public Works Department to ensure smooth functioning during the session. The Winter Session of the Eighth Legislative Assembly is scheduled from January 5 to 8, starting with an address by Lieutenant Governor V.K. Saxena.
Gupta focused on the readiness of the Assembly, including legislative, administrative, and technological aspects. He stressed meticulous planning and coordination among departments to maintain the seriousness and decorum of the proceedings. During the inspection, Gupta assessed seating arrangements, digital infrastructure, and other facilities crucial for legislative business.
The Speaker highlighted the use of the National e-Vidhan Application (NeVA) by Members of the Legislative Assembly through iPads for a technology-driven legislative functioning. Gupta expects NeVA to enhance transparency, efficiency, and accessibility in legislative work. He directed the Public Works Department and other officials to expedite all remaining arrangements for the smooth conduct of the session.
The transition to the National e-Vidhan Application (NeVA) during the Monsoon Session marked a significant milestone for the Delhi Legislative Assembly. This move signifies a shift towards paperless operations, technology-enabled processes, and increased transparency for citizens.
