On International Women’s Day, the North-Eastern regional center of the Sports Authority of India (SAI) conducted the ‘Fit India Sundays on Cycle’ event at Imphal’s Khuman Lampak Sports Complex. The cycling competition was inaugurated by Manipur Sports Minister Govindas Konthoujam, with the participation of renowned sports personalities, medalists, and government officials. This initiative aims to promote a healthy lifestyle and support the Fit India vision, emphasizing the significance of fitness for national progress and development.
Manipur Sports Minister Govindas Konthoujam highlighted the importance of staying fit for the nation’s advancement and integrating fitness into daily routines. The event, aligned with the Union Sports Ministry’s directives, aimed to raise awareness about the importance of fitness among the populace. Extending greetings on International Women’s Day, Govindas Konthoujam encouraged everyone to engage in activities that enhance health and well-being.
Arjuna Award recipient Laishram Sarita Devi emphasized the need for individuals to prioritize fitness and health. She underscored the pivotal role of women in societal development and urged women to focus on their well-being to ensure family fitness. Dhandapani C, the Regional Director-in-Charge of the SAI Northeast Regional Centre, participated in the event, emphasizing the involvement of numerous cycling clubs to promote fitness in the community.
The event witnessed the participation of cycling enthusiasts, CRPF personnel, athletes, and fitness advocates, all joining the ride to advocate for a healthy and fit India.
