The dispute in Sri Ganganagar between a BJP MLA and Rajasthan Urban Infrastructure Development Project (RUIDP) officials intensified when the Assistant Engineer accused the MLA of physical assault. The incident led former Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot to urge the state government for a prompt and unbiased investigation. Gehlot expressed concern over the seriousness of the situation, especially as one of the officials involved is reportedly from the Dalit community.
Referring to the incident, Gehlot highlighted the gravity of the situation where government officials had to publicly level counter-allegations against the MLA and display their injuries. He stressed the need for immediate action by the government to ensure a fair and transparent inquiry into the matter. Gehlot emphasized the importance of upholding public trust in governance by handling such incidents with sensitivity and justice without bias.
Tensions rose in Sri Ganganagar following a clash between Assistant Engineer Jaganlal Bairwa and BJP MLA Jaideep Bihani. Bairwa alleged that he was physically assaulted by the MLA, claiming he was kicked, beaten with a pipe, and forced to change into a new shirt before being handed over to the police. The situation further escalated as Larsen and Toubro Manager Shahnawaz Hasan and Engineer Soham Parmar were also granted bail and addressed the media regarding the incident.
