Sri Lanka showcased a dominant batting display, amassing 225/5 against Oman in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Group B clash at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium. The innings was highlighted by explosive half-centuries from Pavan Rathnayake, Kusal Mendis, and captain Dasun Shanaka.

The hosts started strongly with Kamil Mishara’s quick boundaries but suffered an early setback when Mishara was dismissed by Jay Odedra. Despite losing wickets, a crucial partnership between Mendis and Rathnayake propelled Sri Lanka’s total past 200.

Rathnayake’s aggressive batting, including a rapid half-century, set the tone for Sri Lanka’s innings. Kusal Mendis played a composed innings, anchoring the team with smart placement and innovative strokes. Captain Dasun Shanaka’s blazing fifty off just 20 balls provided the late surge Sri Lanka needed to finish at 225/5.
