Sugar traders in Rajasthan have expressed their support for the Central government’s decision to halt sugar exports until September. This move is seen as crucial in ensuring ample domestic sugar supply and stabilizing prices, particularly during the high-demand wedding season and summer months. Traders from Sikar, Sri Ganganagar, and Ajmer believe that this decision will prevent price surges and maintain sugar availability nationwide.
In Sikar, local sugar traders view the government’s action as a positive step benefiting consumers and the domestic market. They anticipate that suspending sugar exports will guarantee enough sugar in the country and help regulate prices, especially with the increased consumption of sugar-based products during summers. The traders emphasize that this measure will alleviate economic burdens on the public and promote market equilibrium.
Members of the Good Sugar Merchants Association in Sri Ganganagar also applaud the government’s move, considering it advantageous for both consumers and traders. They stress the importance of maintaining adequate sugar stocks within the country to avoid shortages and price fluctuations. Noting that states like Maharashtra, Gujarat, and Uttar Pradesh are major sugar producers, they believe that restricting exports will enhance domestic supply chains.
Similarly, sugar traders in Ajmer commend the Union government’s decision, recognizing it as a significant action in the interest of consumers and the market. They believe that this intervention will ensure price stability and uninterrupted sugar availability in the upcoming months. The traders from Ajmer express optimism that the market will remain balanced, preventing any shortages and benefiting consumers.
