Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) President Sukhbir Singh Badal announced plans to reopen the Attari and Fazilka borders if his party comes to power in Punjab in 2027. He highlighted the adverse impact of closed trade routes on business activities in the border belt during a rally for the ‘Punjab Bachao’ campaign.
Badal emphasized the importance of reopening the borders for exporting fruits, vegetables, and other goods to Central Asian countries. He proposed establishing a special industrial zone in the border area to boost industrial development and attract investments, aiming to revitalize the local economy.
The SAD leader urged support for regional leadership and the Shiromani Akali Dal in the upcoming 2027 Assembly elections. Badal criticized national parties for allegedly neglecting Punjab’s interests and highlighted the initiatives undertaken by SAD during its tenure, including free power supply, infrastructure development, and social welfare schemes.
Badal reaffirmed his commitment to serving Punjab despite political challenges and opposition targeting him and his party. He vowed to continue working for the welfare and prosperity of Punjab, dismissing attempts to deter his efforts.
