In anticipation of increased tourist visits during the summer, the Salem Railway Division of Southern Railway will operate a special Nilgiri Mountain Railway service between Mettupalayam and Udhagamandalam. The special train will run from March 27 to July 5, departing twice a week on Fridays and Sundays from Mettupalayam to Ooty, offering a scenic journey through the Nilgiri hills.
Starting March 28 until July 6, the return service will operate on Saturdays and Mondays from Ooty to Mettupalayam. The train will depart Ooty at 11.25 a.m. and arrive at Mettupalayam at 4.20 p.m. This initiative aims to cater to the rising number of tourists seeking respite in hill stations during the summer months.
