Former India captain Sunil Gavaskar is organizing a charity golf event in Mumbai this week to support his CHAMPS Foundation, aiding former Indian players in financial and medical need. Established in January 1999, the CHAMPS Foundation focuses on assisting Indian sportspersons who have represented the country internationally, offering care and support.
The event, scheduled for March 6 at the Bombay Presidency Golf Club in Chembur, will bring together over 100 participants from cricket, tennis, badminton, and golf. Notable attendees include Indian cricket legends like Yuvraj Singh, G.R. Vishwanath, Harbhajan Singh, and others who have confirmed their presence to show support.
Gavaskar expressed gratitude towards DP World and the participating sports icons for backing this cause, emphasizing the importance of supporting athletes who have brought honor to India. The event aims to give back to the sporting community and highlight the unity and responsibility within the global sports fraternity.
International sports personalities such as former England captains Eoin Morgan and Michael Vaughan, along with tennis star Leander Paes, badminton legend Prakash Padukone, and professional golfers Neha Tripathi, Ridhima Dilawari, and Gaurav Ghei, will also participate in the charity golf event.
