The movie, directed by Anurag Subha and co-written by Singh and Sumit Arora, is a standalone sequel to the original ‘Border’ by J. P. Dutta. ‘Border 2’ features an ensemble cast including Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, and Ahan Shetty, with additional roles played by Mona Singh, Sonam Bajwa, Anya Singh, and Medha Rana. Released on January 23, 2026, ‘Border 2’ coincided with the Republic Day weekend, depicting combined operations of the Indian Army, Air Force, and Navy during the 1971 Indo-Pakistan war.
The film highlights the Battle of Basantar, a significant campaign during the 1971 India-Pakistan war. Sunny Deol is now gearing up to commence shooting for his next film next month, co-produced by A.R. Murugadoss and Farhan Akhtar. The upcoming film, directed by Balaji Ganesh, had its team gather for a puja recently, with Sunny, Jyotika, Balaji Ganesh, and Riteish Sidhwani posing for pictures. Scheduled to start filming in February 2026, the movie is anticipated to hit the floors soon.
