Bollywood actor Sunny Deol recently visited the Indian aircraft carrier INS Vikrant. Sharing pictures on Instagram, he was seen with the ‘Border 2’ team, including Anu Malik, Sonu Nigam, and the producers. Deol expressed pride and admiration for the INS Vikrant, highlighting its significance in protecting the nation.

INS Vikrant, India’s first indigenous aircraft carrier, was commissioned into the Indian Navy on September 2, 2022. Built under the Indigenous Aircraft Carrier (IAC) program by Cochin Shipyard Limited, it marks a significant advancement in naval capabilities. The carrier, named after India’s first aircraft carrier INS Vikrant (1961), showcases advancements in design and self-reliance.

The INS Vikrant, weighing around 45,000 tonnes and measuring approximately 262 meters in length, can operate various aircraft, including MiG-29K fighter jets and helicopters. Utilizing a STOBAR configuration, it boasts advanced features like gas turbines for high speeds and domestic sourcing for over 75% of its components, enhancing India’s maritime security.

Equipped with modern technology and air defense systems, INS Vikrant strengthens India’s naval prowess in the Indian Ocean Region. Its capabilities enable sustained air operations at sea, reflecting a significant advancement in the country’s blue-water navy strategy.
