Sunrisers Hyderabad’s skipper, Ishan Kishan, commended the young bowling squad for their performance under pressure in a hard-fought 10-run triumph against Chennai Super Kings in the 27th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026. Kishan expressed his delight in the bowlers’ ability to execute their plans effectively during the post-match presentation.
The Sunrisers Hyderabad team posted 194/9 in 20 overs, with Abhishek Sharma and Heinrich Klaasen contributing impressive half-centuries. Despite a strong start, the team fell short of breaching the 200-run mark due to losing wickets towards the end of the innings on a supposedly favorable batting pitch.
Acknowledging the team’s shortfall in setting a competitive total, Kishan mentioned that they should have batted better to capitalize on the good batting conditions. He also highlighted the expectation for a significant innings from at least one batter to propel the total beyond 220 runs.
Sunrisers Hyderabad’s bowlers successfully defended the target of 195, with Eshan Malinga leading the way with a three-wicket haul and Nitish Kumar Reddy contributing crucial breakthroughs to keep Chennai Super Kings under pressure. Despite a valiant effort, Chennai Super Kings finished at 184/8, narrowly missing the target.
Kishan attributed the victory to the young bowlers’ preparation and fearless mindset, emphasizing the importance of allowing players to execute their strategies independently. He emphasized the team’s grounded approach, focusing on one game at a time rather than getting carried away by the points table, as they progress in the tournament.
Following this win, Sunrisers Hyderabad has secured the fourth position in the points table with three victories in six matches. Their next challenge will be against the Delhi Capitals on April 21.
