In a setback for candidates selected in the Sub-Inspector (SI) Recruitment-2021 in Rajasthan, the Supreme Court has dismissed the Special Leave Petition challenging the cancellation of the recruitment process. This decision affirms the earlier ruling of the Rajasthan High Court. The appeal filed by the selected candidates was heard by a bench comprising Justice Dipankar Datta and Justice Satish Chandra Sharma.
The Rajasthan High Court’s Single Bench had initially canceled the recruitment process on August 28, 2025, a decision later upheld by a Division Bench on April 4, 2026. Despite the selected candidates approaching the Supreme Court to challenge the Division Bench’s ruling, they did not receive any relief. The state government, however, has not yet filed an independent appeal before the Supreme Court in this matter.
Trainee Sub-Inspectors have been urging the government to expedite the legal proceedings and present a robust case at the earliest. The High Court’s decision to cancel the SI Recruitment-2021, reinforced by the Supreme Court’s dismissal of the SLP, now awaits the state government’s decision on further legal actions.
In a recent ruling, the Rajasthan High Court’s division bench, led by Acting Chief Justice Sanjeev Prakash Sharma, upheld the single-judge bench’s decision to cancel the 2021 Sub-Inspector (SI) recruitment examination. The recruitment notification for SI 2021, which included 859 posts, was issued on February 3, 2021. The examination took place from September 13 to 15, 2021, attracting nearly 7.97 lakh applicants.
