Supriya Sule, the NCP-SP Working President, stated that she has not yet received any official proposal from either faction regarding the speculated reunion in the upcoming Maharashtra municipal corporation elections. She emphasized the need to refrain from commenting until a final decision is made amidst ongoing discussions. Sule confirmed that discussions on seat-sharing within the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) are in their concluding stages.
Sule highlighted that talks with Uddhav Thackeray’s Shiv Sena-UBT are progressing in Mumbai, aiming for a united front with the MVA partners to avoid vote division. She emphasized that the welfare of NCP-SP workers and the development of Pune are central to their decision-making. The party’s democratic principles dictate that major alliance decisions will involve consultation with political leaders and workers to ensure transparency.
Addressing recent speculations and rumors, Sule clarified that she has not received any resignation from Pune City NCP-SP President Prashant Jagtap. She underscored the party’s commitment to the people’s interests and the state’s progress. Transparency and internal dialogue will guide their decision-making process as they navigate alliance negotiations ahead of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) polls.
State NCP-SP Chief Shashikant Shinde announced that the party will participate in the BMC elections as part of the Maha Vikas Aghadi alliance. Discussions are underway with various parties, including the Thackeray faction of the Shiv Sena, to address seat allocation issues. Shinde emphasized the importance of forming alliances with the Ajit Pawar-led NCP faction in specific areas based on feedback received from party members and aspiring candidates.
