Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav shared positive news regarding Tilak Varma and Washington Sunder’s participation in the upcoming T20 World Cup 2026. Tilak, who had been recovering from testicular surgery after an injury during a Ranji Trophy game, is set to rejoin the team in Mumbai next week. He will also play two practice matches before the tournament. Suryakumar mentioned that Tilak has resumed training and is progressing well.
On the other hand, Washington Sunder, India’s key all-rounder, is currently undergoing rehabilitation at the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence after sustaining a rib injury during a match against New Zealand. Despite the injury, Sunder contributed to India’s victory in the game. Suryakumar confirmed that Sunder has started practicing batting and bowling and is expected to rejoin the team soon.
As Team India prepares for the T20 World Cup, they will gather in Mumbai for two warm-up matches before the tournament kicks off on February 7.
