A raid in Rajkot’s Gondal led to the seizure of suspected adulterated spices valued at over Rs 1.11 crore by the Food and Drugs Regulatory Department. Acting on orders from Health Minister Praful Pansheriya, officials inspected M/s Satyam Masala in Bhimwadi on June 17 as part of Gujarat’s food safety enforcement drive.
The operation, aimed at ensuring safe and quality food products for consumers, involved the collection of samples of four suspected food items, including loose coriander and corn powder. Approximately 6,766 kg of these items worth around Rs 8,22,620 were confiscated during the inspection. Additionally, samples of loose chilli and turmeric powder were also taken, resulting in the seizure of about 28,671 kg of these products valued at Rs 1,02,81,585.
In total, authorities seized 35,527 kg of suspected food products from the facility, with a combined value of Rs 1,11,04,205. All samples collected have been sent for quality testing at an authorized laboratory, and further actions under the Food Safety and Standards Act are pending the laboratory reports.
Health Minister Pansheriya emphasized the government’s commitment to public health, vowing strict action against any violations in food production and distribution. He stressed a zero-tolerance policy towards adulterated or substandard food products, highlighting the government’s focus on public health protection.
The Food and Drugs Regulatory Department announced the intensification of inspection drives statewide to uphold food safety standards and protect consumers. Ongoing enforcement actions will continue to ensure compliance with regulations and safeguard public health.
