A distressing case of suspected female infanticide has emerged in Rajasthan’s Alwar district. The police found the fetus of an eight-month-old baby girl in a plastic bundle, sparking outrage and highlighting concerns about social awareness and police responsiveness. The discovery took place between Baroli and Nyana villages in the Govindgarh area when a bundle, initially mistaken for garbage, was opened early Sunday morning.
Villagers reported the incident to the police, who arrived nearly one and a half hours later due to a shortage of personnel at the station. Before the authorities reached the scene, residents protected the fetus from stray animals by forming a circle around it. Allegations arose that a police official made an insensitive comment, fueling anger among the locals over the handling of the situation.
Upon arrival, the police took custody of the fetus and transferred it to the Govindgarh Community Health Centre for further investigation. They also seized the clothing materials found with the fetus, including a salwar with a tag from a tailoring shop, which could provide crucial leads in identifying the perpetrators. Authorities are currently analyzing the evidence to determine the origin of the clothing and the circumstances surrounding the incident.
This incident has reignited discussions on gender-based discrimination and violence, underscoring the need for increased awareness, accountability, and law enforcement efficiency in such cases. Police have assured a thorough investigation and are working to identify those involved and take appropriate legal actions.
