Jhabararam, a suspected Pakistani ISI spy, was apprehended for espionage in Pokhran, Jaisalmer. The CID Intelligence of Rajasthan Police presented him before a Jaipur court, which granted five days of police custody for further investigation. Joint interrogation by CID Intelligence and Intelligence Bureau (IB) teams is scheduled during this period.
Hailing from Newar village in Pokhran tehsil, Jaisalmer district, Jhabararam was detained by Rajasthan Police’s intelligence unit on January 25. Following initial questioning, he was formally arrested on Friday after revealing crucial information. It was disclosed that a Pakistani woman had initially befriended and later manipulated him for sensitive Indian Army data in exchange for money.
Evidence retrieved from Jhabararam’s mobile phone included conversations with ISI handlers. Reportedly, he received monetary compensation ranging from Rs 5,000 to Rs 10,000 for divulging confidential military details. Moreover, investigations unveiled his regular communication with Pakistani operatives via social media, where he shared OTPs to grant access to his WhatsApp account.
Employed as an E-Mitra operator in Nevar village and preparing for a teaching recruitment exam, Jhabararam allegedly collaborated with Pakistani intelligence for financial incentives by disclosing Indian Army secrets over a two-year period. The ongoing probe anticipates further revelations during his custody.
