Following the BJP’s win in the Falta Assembly bypoll, West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari criticized Trinamool Congress leader Abhishek Banerjee’s “Diamond Harbour model.” Adhikari expressed gratitude to Falta voters for the BJP candidate’s significant victory margin exceeding one lakh votes. He pledged development in return for their support.
The Falta Assembly constituency, previously a Trinamool stronghold under the Diamond Harbour Lok Sabha seat, saw a major shift as the BJP secured the seat by a substantial margin. Adhikari accused the ruling party of lacking principles, turning into a “mafia company,” and exploiting power, funds, and people. He warned of a tough battle for Trinamool in future elections.
Abhishek Banerjee raised concerns about the Falta bypoll counting process, pointing out discrepancies. He questioned the Election Commission’s handling of the situation, citing irregularities and alleged forced displacement of Falta workers. Banerjee criticized the Commission’s actions during the bypoll and electoral roll revision, calling for accountability and transparency in the electoral process.
