In his first address as the leader of the BJP’s legislative party and Chief Minister of West Bengal, Suvendu Adhikari highlighted the importance of collective decision-making over individual control. Adhikari expressed that the new government would function collectively rather than under one person’s authority.
During a meeting chaired by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Adhikari was unanimously chosen as the leader of the BJP’s legislative party in West Bengal and the upcoming Chief Minister. This move signifies a shift towards a collective leadership approach in the state administration.
Adhikari’s emphasis on collective leadership is seen as a departure from the previous governance style under Mamata Banerjee. Adhikari outlined the priorities of the new state Cabinet, focusing on combating corruption, delivering justice to victims of injustice, and ensuring efficient public service.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah urged the elected legislators to uphold the trust placed in them by the people of West Bengal. He emphasized the need to fulfill the aspirations of the electorate and maintain the integrity of the government. Shah called on party members to work diligently for the welfare of the state’s residents.
