As the sports drama “Rocky III” commemorated its 44th anniversary, Sylvester Stallone, the Hollywood legend, expressed his appreciation for the film’s enduring impact. Stallone, known for portraying the iconic character Rocky Balboa, shared black-and-white images from the 1982 movie, which he also directed. He reflected on the unforgettable moments both inside and outside the boxing ring that the film brought to audiences.
“Rocky III,” a sequel to the 1979 release “Rocky II,” features Stallone alongside Talia Shire, Burt Young, Carl Weathers, and Burgess Meredith. The storyline follows Rocky Balboa as he faces formidable competition from Clubber Lang, seeking guidance from his former rival Apollo Creed for training. The original “Rocky” film, directed by John G. Avildsen, kickstarted a successful franchise that includes several sequels and spin-offs.
Apart from his iconic role in the Rocky series, Stallone is currently involved in the highly anticipated project “Frisco King.” The series, which debuted in 2022 as “Tulsa King,” stars Stallone as Dwight “The General” Manfredi, an ex-Mafia caporegime establishing a criminal empire in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The show marks Stallone’s first leading role in a scripted TV series, with a fourth season and a spin-off, “Frisco King,” featuring Samuel L. Jackson, already in the works.
