The Tamil Nadu BJP has issued a critical assessment of the DMK government’s performance, highlighting alleged governance failures, corruption, and unmet electoral pledges during its 2021-2026 term. The report, unveiled by Tamil Nadu BJP President Nainar Nagenthran, evaluates the DMK-led government’s actions in areas such as living costs, employment, law enforcement, education, healthcare, agriculture, and women’s security. According to the BJP, the DMK administration, under Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, has not fully delivered on the 505 promises made before the 2021 elections, with many remaining unaddressed or only partially fulfilled.
The BJP report accuses the state government of inadequately managing inflation, failing to generate sufficient job opportunities for the youth, and weakening public safety measures. It also criticizes the government for a decline in law and order, claiming that its economic policies have deterred investments and hampered growth prospects. Additionally, the BJP expresses concerns about the state of public infrastructure in education and healthcare, pointing out deficiencies in service provision and infrastructure enhancement.
Regarding corruption, the BJP alleges systemic irregularities and cites Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s previous comments on “dynastic politics” in Tamil Nadu. Union Home Minister Amit Shah has also raised concerns about a purported “20 per cent corruption premium” in the state, a claim refuted by the DMK. The BJP further questions the DMK’s partnership with the Congress, alluding to past political controversies and governance challenges.
Despite these criticisms, the DMK has consistently defended its governance approach, emphasizing a commitment to social justice, welfare expansion, and inclusive growth under its “Dravidian Model.” The release of the BJP report precedes the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections and reflects feedback gathered through extensive outreach efforts and public engagements. As the political landscape heats up ahead of the elections, discussions on governance and accountability are anticipated to dominate Tamil Nadu’s political narrative in the coming months.
