Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin recently opened a new Mini TIDEL Park in Karaikudi, Sivaganga district. Costing Rs 28 crore, this park aims to create job opportunities for about 600 IT professionals. The initiative aligns with the state’s strategy to decentralize IT infrastructure and bring tech jobs to smaller cities.

The TIDEL project, dating back to 2000 under former Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi, kickstarted Tamil Nadu’s growth as a prominent IT hub. The state government, following this success, is expanding TIDEL infrastructure statewide. Recently, foundation stones were laid for two major TIDEL Parks in Madurai and Tiruchirappalli, with construction underway.

Furthermore, a 21-storey TIDEL Park in Pattabiram was inaugurated in November 2024, and a new park in Hosur is in the pipeline with an estimated cost of Rs 400 crore. These projects are set to create thousands of IT and IT-enabled services jobs, boosting Tamil Nadu’s tech ecosystem and fostering regional development.
