With the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections set for Thursday, the Election Commission has organized comprehensive measures across the state to ensure smooth and voter-friendly polling. Officials are actively preparing, focusing on infrastructure, accessibility, and real-time monitoring at the 75,064 polling booths established with necessary facilities and trained personnel. Micro-observers have been stationed at each polling station to oversee the voting process and promptly report any irregularities, enhancing transparency.
The distribution of Voter Information Slips has begun to assist voters in locating their polling stations and verifying their details in advance. Polling stations will offer essential amenities like drinking water, shaded waiting areas, toilets, lighting, ramps for persons with disabilities, signage, and well-maintained booths. Seating arrangements will be provided at intervals in queues to support voters, especially the elderly and differently-abled. Voter awareness initiatives include standardized posters displaying polling station information, candidate lists, voting procedures, accepted identity documents, and voter guidelines.
Voter Assistance Booths will be set up at each polling station to aid voters in finding their station number and serial number in the electoral roll. Mobile phone deposit facilities will be available outside polling stations, requiring voters to hand over their phones before entering the booth. Campaigning has ended, marking the start of the silence period before voting. The Election Commission emphasizes strict monitoring of all arrangements, ensuring a seamless and voter-friendly polling process through advanced preparations.
