In a significant move by the Tamil Nadu government, 56 police officers have been transferred across the state. This reshuffle affects officers in various police units, including the Greater Chennai Police, district police units, commissionerates, and specialized wings. The aim is to fill key positions, enhance district policing, and improve the efficiency of units like cybercrime and vigilance.
Among the notable changes, ES Uma has been appointed as Deputy Inspector General of Police for the Greater Chennai Police. KS Balla Krisshnan, who was Deputy Commissioner of Police at the headquarters, has been reassigned to the Cyber Crime Cell in Chennai. Additionally, S Selvaraj has moved from Central Crime Branch-I to High Court Security, while S Arockiam now heads the Social Justice and Human Rights Wing.
The reshuffle also includes transfers of district police chiefs. For instance, S Kuthalingam from T Nagar, Chennai, is now the Superintendent of Police in Salem district. AC Karthikeyan, who was in Adyar, has been appointed as the Superintendent of Police in Tiruvannamalai district. These changes aim to optimize leadership in key areas ahead of a busy administrative period in Tamil Nadu.
