Tamil Nadu Minister Nirmal Kumar restated the state government’s firm stance against the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET), labeling it as unnecessary. He criticized the previous DMK government for misleading the public with unfulfilled promises. Kumar emphasized that NEET places undue stress on students and families without providing significant benefits. He highlighted the government’s consistent position that NEET should be abolished due to its adverse impact.
Nirmal Kumar mentioned that the government has supported and granted necessary permissions for protests in Tamil Nadu against NEET. He affirmed the administration’s commitment to upholding the democratic right to protest and ensuring adequate security for demonstrations. The minister criticized the DMK leadership for their lack of credibility on the NEET issue, accusing them of failing to take effective action during their tenure.
The minister pointed out that the DMK’s promises to abolish NEET were unfulfilled due to the legal framework supported by Supreme Court rulings. He criticized the party for creating false hopes and reiterated the government’s unwavering opposition to NEET. Nirmal Kumar emphasized that Tamil Nadu would persist in its resistance against NEET and promised to voice concerns at the appropriate juncture.
