In a move to boost tourism investments in Tamil Nadu, the Tamil Nadu Tourism Development Corporation (TTDC) has established a dedicated tourism facilitation cell. This initiative aims to expedite the implementation of projects announced during the Tamil Nadu Global Tourism Summit 2026. The summit recently concluded with 127 Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) signed, totaling an investment proposal of Rs 22,795 crore.
The newly formed tourism facilitation cell will act as a centralized support system for investors, led by the Director of Tourism. It will offer a unified digital platform for the submission of necessary documents and applications. Additionally, the cell will facilitate communication between investors and government departments, monitor approval statuses, and ensure timely clearances.
Beyond managing summit-related projects, the facilitation cell has a broader mandate. It will focus on attracting new investments to Tamil Nadu’s tourism sector, overseeing ongoing public-private partnership (PPP) projects, and devising marketing strategies to target both domestic and international tourist markets. The cell will also assist private stakeholders in obtaining statutory approvals and collaborate with government departments to prevent procedural delays.
Under the guidance of the Commissioner of Tourism, the facilitation cell will include key officials such as the Joint Director of the Tourism Department and the General Manager of TTDC. Tourism Minister R Rajendran emphasized the importance of this new mechanism in expediting major investment opportunities from the summit. The government’s commitment to supporting investors and solidifying Tamil Nadu’s position as a premier tourism destination in India was highlighted.
Officials are optimistic that this initiative will enhance the business environment in the tourism sector, leading to increased employment opportunities across the State.
