Natarajan Chandrasekaran, Chairman of Tata Sons, expressed concern about the potential global impact of the conflict involving the US, Israel, and Iran. He highlighted the risk of a prolonged war in the Middle East leading to broader challenges worldwide. Chandrasekaran reassured that as of now, there has been no direct impact on India or the Tata Group.
During his visit to Jamshedpur for the 187th birth anniversary of Jamsetji Tata, the founder of the Tata Group, Chandrasekaran emphasized the importance of the Middle East as a key source of raw materials for the conglomerate. He mentioned that any extended conflict could disrupt global supply chains, logistics, and sustainability efforts crucial for Tata’s international operations.
Chandrasekaran underscored the group’s commitment to employee safety and well-being amidst the global uncertainties. He assured that the company is closely monitoring developments to safeguard its workforce and families. The Chairman also noted the ongoing expansion plans within the Tata Group, which have led to a significant increase in job opportunities over the past few years.
Highlighting the growth in the group’s workforce from 7 lakh to 11 lakh employees, Chandrasekaran outlined plans to further expand and reach 15 lakh employees in the coming years. He also mentioned efforts to enhance gender diversity by increasing the share of women employees to 28–30%.
