Team India has showcased a dominant performance in the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, securing an unbeaten record in the group stage. With one Group A match remaining, they have already secured a spot in the Super 8 stage. BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia expressed confidence in the team’s progress, stating that they are on the right track.
India, undefeated in the tournament so far, is set to face the Netherlands at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. They aim to continue their winning streak and carry momentum into the Super 8s. Saikia conveyed his hopes for India to maintain their positive momentum throughout the competition.
The defending champions commenced their campaign with a hard-fought victory against the United States of America at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Despite a challenging start at 77/6, skipper Suryakumar Yadav’s resilient unbeaten 84 guided India to a competitive total. The bowlers then contained the USA effectively, securing a 29-run win.
In their second match against Namibia, India displayed a comprehensive performance, posting a formidable total of 209/9. Contributions from the top and middle order, including a quick 61 by Ishan Kishan and a brisk 52 by Hardik Pandya, set the stage for a convincing 93-run victory. The bowlers maintained controlled aggression to dismantle Namibia’s batting lineup.
India’s standout performance came against arch-rivals Pakistan in Colombo. A strong total of 175/7, fueled by Kishan’s explosive 77 off 40 balls, paved the way for a commanding 61-run win. The disciplined bowling attack restricted Pakistan to 114 all out, marking India’s largest victory margin by runs over Pakistan in T20 World Cup history.
With three wins from three matches and a solid net run rate, India has not only progressed to the next round but has done so convincingly, establishing their authority in the competition.
