The teams moving on to the Super Eights of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 have clinched automatic qualification for the 2028 edition set in Australia and New Zealand. Pakistan, after defeating Namibia, joins India, Sri Lanka, Zimbabwe, West Indies, England, South Africa, and New Zealand in the next stage of the 20-team tournament. Australia and New Zealand, as co-hosts of the 2028 event, are already qualified.
All teams reaching the Super Eights have now secured spots for the 2028 World Cup, in accordance with the tournament’s qualification rules. The list of automatic qualifiers will extend to 12 teams, with Bangladesh, Afghanistan, and Ireland currently in line to claim the remaining spots based on the ICC Men’s T20I Team Rankings.
The final eight spots in the 20-team tournament will be determined through regional qualification pathways, ensuring global representation at the 2028 event. The Super 8s phase of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 is set to begin on February 21, with matches taking place in India and Sri Lanka. The top two teams from each group will advance to the knockout rounds to vie for semifinal spots.
