The Telecommunication Engineering Centre (TEC) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur (IIT Kanpur) to collaborate on research and technical contributions in telecom technologies. This partnership will focus on developing India-specific standards for emerging technologies like 6G, Artificial Intelligence, Internet of Things (IoT), and Quantum Communication. It aims to enhance India’s role in global standard-setting bodies.
The collaboration between TEC and IIT Kanpur will involve joint studies on 6G architecture, AI/ML for network automation, and advanced antenna systems. They will also work on research in satellite communication systems and disaster-resilient connectivity solutions. The partnership seeks to strengthen India’s presence in global standardization processes and promote indigenous research and manufacturing in the telecom sector.
The initiative aligns with the ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ vision by focusing on developing India-specific standards and solutions to enhance national self-reliance in critical communications infrastructure. By reducing dependence on imports, the collaboration aims to bolster India’s capabilities in telecom research and design, contributing to the country’s technological advancement and strategic autonomy.
