A 23-year-old female techie was recorded while bathing at her Bengaluru home, leading to the arrest of a man named Karthik by Mahadevapura police. The unsettling incident occurred on April 30 at Ashraya Layout in Garudacharpalya. The victim, employed as a software engineer, was showering around 9:30 p.m. when the accused filmed her from outside the bathroom window.
The woman noticed the recording and raised an alarm, prompting the accused to flee with his mobile phone. Subsequently, she reported the incident to the Mahadevapura police, who then apprehended Karthik. The accused, originally from Kerala and working in Bengaluru, resided near the victim’s house.
Charges under Sections 77 (voyeurism) and 79 (intrusion of privacy) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita have been filed against the accused. The victim, deeply affected by the incident, lodged a complaint leading to the arrest. Investigations are ongoing to address the matter.
In a separate incident in 2025, a 28-year-old Infosys techie, Swapnil Nagesh Mali, was arrested for filming a female colleague in the washroom. Another case involved a 23-year-old employee at Third Wave Coffee, arrested for placing a hidden camera in the women’s restroom.
