National President of Janshakti Janata Dal, Tej Pratap Yadav, criticized Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for allegedly not embodying Mahatma Gandhi’s principles. Yadav questioned Gandhi’s sincerity in upholding Gandhian ideals, pointing out differences in their lifestyles. He emphasized Mahatma Gandhi’s advocacy for simplicity and self-reliance through symbols like the spinning wheel and Khadi.
The criticism stemmed from Rahul Gandhi’s objection to renaming MNREGA, which he deemed disrespectful to Mahatma Gandhi. Tej Pratap Yadav highlighted the disparity between Gandhi’s teachings and Rahul Gandhi’s actions, citing the latter’s choice of attire and mode of transportation. He stressed the importance of leaders reflecting Gandhian values in both rhetoric and personal conduct.
Tej Pratap Yadav underscored that merely adopting the name ‘Gandhi’ does not equate to embodying the essence of Mahatma Gandhi. He urged leaders to go beyond symbolic gestures and integrate simplicity, restraint, and sacrifice into their daily lives. The comments have escalated political tensions, injecting a fresh dimension into the discourse on Gandhism and contemporary politics.
