Telangana’s Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) arrested Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) Chief Engineer B. Ravinder for allegedly accumulating assets through corrupt practices. The arrest followed searches at his residence, office, and nine other locations linked to his relatives and associates. The ACB discovered various assets, including properties and valuables, estimated at around Rs 9.24 crore.
The seized assets include open plots, residential flats, agricultural land, a villa, and a constructed building, among others. Additionally, cash, bank balances, gold and silver ornaments, household articles, electronic gadgets, and vehicles were confiscated. The ACB mentioned that the market value of these assets is higher than their official value. Further investigations are ongoing to verify additional assets.
B. Ravinder will be presented before the Principal Special Judge for SPE & ACB cases in Hyderabad for judicial remand. This arrest is part of a series of actions by the Telangana ACB against senior government officials involved in disproportionate assets cases. Recently, suspended Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Sankireddy Bheem Reddy was also taken into custody for allegedly owning illegal assets worth approximately Rs 300 crore.
The ACB revealed that Reddy had amassed assets beyond his known income sources through corrupt means. The agency conducted searches at his residence and 15 other premises associated with him in Telangana and Karnataka. The total value of the assets seized during these searches is estimated to be around Rs 300 crore, marking a significant anti-corruption case involving a Telangana police officer.
