Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy faced backlash for revealing that he drew inspiration from Adolf Hitler to establish HYDRAA, a body responsible for demolitions in Hyderabad. The agency, formed in 2024 by the Congress government, focuses on protecting public assets and reclaiming encroached lands, having already recovered 2,182 acres worth Rs 80,000 crore. However, HYDRAA’s actions, led by IPS officer A.V. Ranganath, have sparked controversy, with opposition parties accusing it of targeting the homes of the less privileged.
Opposition parties, including Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), strongly criticized the Chief Minister’s remarks, linking them to a dangerous Hitler mindset within the Congress. BRS President K. Chandrasekhar Rao vowed to abolish HYDRAA if his party regains power, emphasizing the need to eliminate the agency. Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy condemned Revanth Reddy’s statements, highlighting the concerning parallels drawn between HYDRAA’s actions and those in conflict-ridden nations like Iran and Israel.
The controversy deepened as BRS Working President K.T. Rama Rao expressed disapproval of Revanth Reddy’s Hitler-inspired approach, contrasting it with their party’s governance principles rooted in constitutional values and national leaders’ visions. Meanwhile, State BJP President N. Ramchander Rao criticized the Chief Minister’s rhetoric, warning against the consequences of following Hitler’s path. Rao also challenged the Chief Minister to a discussion on the contributions of the Central and state governments to Telangana, emphasizing the need for transparency and accountability in governance.
