Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Madhya Pradesh for allegedly orchestrating the rejection of Congress leader Meenakshi Natarajan’s Rajya Sabha nomination. Reddy denounced this move as an attack on democracy, emphasizing the need for citizens to stand up against such actions. Natarajan’s nomination was turned down due to allegations of concealing information about a legal case in her affidavit.
The rejection of Natarajan’s nomination has sparked concerns about the state of democratic institutions, according to Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president B. Mahesh Kumar Goud. Goud highlighted the importance of opposing any political manipulation that undermines the will of the people. He called for unity in defending democracy and upholding constitutional values against such actions.
Meenakshi Natarajan accused the BJP of stifling democracy and the Constitution, stating that what began as “vote theft” has now escalated to “seat theft.” She expressed concerns about the BJP’s alleged attempts to influence the Rajya Sabha election, emphasizing the broader implications beyond a single seat or candidate. Natarajan underscored the significance of safeguarding the ‘Idea of India’ and democracy, aligning with the efforts led by Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha.
