Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy stated that the state government is actively engaging with the Union government to secure approval for the Hyderabad Metro Rail Phase–II. He mentioned a recent meeting with Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs Manohar Lal, emphasizing the state’s efforts towards obtaining approval for the Metro Phase–II. Responding to a letter from Union Minister for Coal and Mines G. Kishan Reddy, CM Revanth Reddy detailed the actions taken by the Telangana government.
The Chief Minister clarified that the state has already communicated the necessary details regarding the joint committee’s composition for the construction of Hyderabad Metro Rail Phase–II to the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs. He reiterated the state government’s commitment to maintaining close coordination with the Centre for the approval of Metro Rail Phase–II. CM Revanth Reddy also urged Kishan Reddy to expedite the approval process for the long-pending Phase–II project.
In a recent communication, Kishan Reddy urged the Chief Minister to expedite the takeover of Hyderabad Metro Phase-I from Larsen and Toubro to facilitate the initiation of Phase II, which the Centre is prepared to undertake in collaboration with the state government. Expressing concerns over delays in progressing with Metro Phase-II, Kishan Reddy highlighted that the Central government has agreed in principle to Phase-II, contingent upon the completion of Phase-I takeover and the initiation of coordination through the Joint Committee as previously agreed.
