Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has called for an immediate special session of Parliament to address the issue of 33% reservation for women in legislative bodies. He emphasized the need for the Centre to prioritize the women’s reservation bill without politicizing it. Reddy highlighted the importance of enacting women’s reservation laws, drawing inspiration from former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi’s initiatives for women’s political empowerment.
Paying homage to Rajiv Gandhi on his death anniversary, the Chief Minister praised Gandhi’s contributions to the nation, particularly in the fields of technology and development. Reddy underscored the Gandhis’ sacrifices for India, noting Sonia Gandhi’s role in realizing the dream of a separate Telangana state. He emphasized the enduring bond between the Gandhi family and the people of Telangana, portraying it as a relationship beyond mere politics.
Revanth Reddy lauded Rajiv Gandhi’s legacy as a visionary leader who spearheaded the country’s technological advancements and economic liberalization. He reiterated the Telangana government’s commitment to upholding Rajiv Gandhi’s principles for women’s empowerment. The Chief Minister, along with state ministers and senior Congress leaders, commemorated Rajiv Gandhi’s memory by garlanding his statue near the State Secretariat.
