Telangana is currently experiencing severe cold wave conditions, with temperatures falling below 10 degrees Celsius in various areas. Adilabad recorded the lowest temperature at 7.7 degrees Celsius, while Kohir in Sangareddy district saw 7.9 degrees Celsius. Patancheru near Hyderabad registered 9.2 degrees Celsius, with Rajandra Nagar and Hayath Nagar recording 10.5 and 12.5 degrees Celsius, respectively.
The mercury plummeted significantly below normal in Adilabad, Medak, and Patancheru, ranging from 3.1 to 5 degrees Celsius below the usual temperatures. Several districts, including Hanamkonda, Hyderabad, Nalgonda, Nizamabad, Ramagundam, and Rajendra Nagar, reported temperatures 1.6 to 3 degrees below normal. A total of 12 districts saw temperatures below 10 degrees Celsius, with varying ranges observed in different areas.
Residents in Telangana are facing hardships due to the cold winds, persisting from night until late morning and again in the evening. The chilly weather has been particularly challenging for people traveling to celebrate Sankranti in their hometowns. The India Meteorological Department forecasts that the cold conditions will continue for the next three days, with temperatures expected to range between 11 and 15 degrees Celsius.
