Telangana’s Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) apprehended a tahsildar in Shamirpet Mandal, Medchal Malkajgiri district, caught accepting a bribe of Rs 2 lakh. The official, T. Suchitra, had demanded Rs 30 lakh for approving the conversion of 30 acres of agricultural land. ACB officials disclosed that Rs 2 lakh was received as part payment through her driver, V. Nagesh.
In a separate incident, Kammari Brahmaiah, a Mandal Surveyor in Jogulamba Gadwal district, was nabbed accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000. Brahmaiah had asked for Rs 15,000 as a gratuity for surveying land related to the complainant’s parents. The ACB mentioned that the accused officer had previously taken Rs 5,000 as an advance. Both accused individuals were arrested and presented before the Additional Special Judge for SPE & ACB cases at Nampally for judicial remand.
The ACB emphasized that both officials had abused their positions for personal gain, leading to their arrests. Investigations are ongoing in both cases, with the details of the complainants withheld for security reasons. The agency urged the public to report any instances of bribery by public servants to the toll-free number 1064 for legal action.
