Telangana Police’s anti-drugs wing EAGLE Force, along with Customs Hyderabad and the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), has dismantled a transnational ‘OG Ganja’ smuggling ring operating between Bangkok and India. A woman arriving from Bangkok was apprehended at Hyderabad Airport for attempting to smuggle ‘OG Ganja’ into the country. The EAGLE Force confiscated 2.15 kilograms of OG weed ganja valued at Rs 2 crore.
The EAGLE team disclosed that a junior artist’s frequent trips to Bangkok unveiled the drug syndicate’s operations. This individual was involved in smuggling OG ganja from Bangkok to India. The syndicate enticed women with monetary incentives to act as couriers for smuggling OG weed, deceiving them under the guise of foreign trips.
The criminal network extended its operations to Hyderabad, Chennai, and Bengaluru, exploiting individuals to transport narcotics across borders. The investigation exposed connections to various carriers, interstate operatives, and foreign-based handlers engaged in organized drug trafficking. Challil Puthan Purayil Nasheed was identified as the principal conspirator in the illicit scheme.
EAGLE discovered that the drug syndicate enlisted junior artists and domestic workers to facilitate their illegal activities. Efforts are underway to trace foreign handlers and the broader international network they are part of. Authorities are actively pursuing the main suspects, Alex and Raju Biswas.
