The Telangana State Commission for Women has summoned film actor Sivaji following alleged derogatory remarks about women. Sivaji is required to appear before the Commission on December 27 at 11 a.m. The Commission initiated a case on its own against the actor for comments made during the ‘Dhandora’ movie event, considering them derogatory towards women in general and specifically those from Telangana.
Sivaji, during a promotional event for his movie ‘Dhandora,’ made controversial statements about women’s clothing. He mentioned that women look most beautiful in traditional attire, particularly in a saree. Despite facing criticism for his remarks, Sivaji issued an apology, clarifying that his comments were not meant to insult anyone but were poorly worded. He expressed respect for women and emphasized the need to empower them in society.
The actor has been directed to personally appear before the Commission with all relevant materials related to the issue. The Commission’s decision to conduct an inquiry under the Telangana Women’s Commission Act-1998 was based on the perceived intention of defaming women in society through the actor’s statements. Sivaji acknowledged his mistake and apologized for any offense caused by his choice of words.
