Telangana’s Drugs Control Administration conducted a raid on an unlicensed medical shop in Choppadandi village, Karimnagar district. The shop, run by Mallarapu Akhil without a drug license, was found stocking medicinal drugs worth Rs. 5.51 lakh for sale illegally. The raid led to the seizure of 28 varieties of medicines, including diagnostic test kits, antibiotics, IV fluids, and analgesics.
Officials took action based on information about the unauthorized sale of medicines at the shop. The Drugs Control Administration emphasized that wholesalers and dealers supplying medicines to unlicensed shops would also face legal consequences under the Drugs and Cosmetics Act. It is mandatory for wholesalers to verify that the recipients possess a valid drug license before supplying medicines.
The Drugs Control Administration highlighted the importance of purchasing medicines only from licensed sources to safeguard public health. It warned against buying medicines from unlicensed or online platforms, stressing the risks associated with such purchases. The administration urged the public to procure medicines solely from licensed medical shops displaying their drug licenses prominently for public verification.
