Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) president Thol. Thirumavalavan has called on the Tamil Nadu government to organize an all-party gathering to address the Mekedatu dam matter. Thirumavalavan emphasized the need for political parties to come together and deliberate on the potential impacts of the proposed dam project in Karnataka.
Highlighting the significance of the issue, Thirumavalavan pointed out the understanding shown by the Congress, during its tenure in Karnataka, towards Tamil Nadu’s concerns. He stressed the importance of cooperation between Congress leaders in Tamil Nadu and the State government on matters affecting Tamil Nadu’s interests.
Expressing worries over the repercussions of the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET), Thirumavalavan expressed deep concern over the tragic deaths of multiple students, including one from Salem, allegedly due to exam-related stress. He urged the Tamil Nadu government to conduct thorough discussions on the matter and explore legal avenues to challenge the examination system.
Thirumavalavan also addressed issues such as the AIADMK’s current state, honour killings, and violence against women. He called for serious introspection by the AIADMK’s senior leadership on the challenges faced by the party. Additionally, he emphasized the need for effective action against honour killings and violence against women, proposing the establishment of a task force similar to the Singappen Special Task Force to address these issues.
